How to Perform Self-Ruqyah at Home — Step by Step

Performing Ruqyah on yourself is highly recommended in Islam. It strengthens your connection with Allah (Tawakkul) and ensures that your spiritual healing remains pure, free of any doubtful practices.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to perform self-Ruqyah in your home.

Step 1: Prepare Your Mind and Environment

  1. Purity (Wudu): Perform a complete ablution. Ensure your clothing and the room are clean.
  2. Correct Intention (Niyyah): Sit with the firm belief that healing (Shifa) comes solely from Allah. The Quran is the means of healing that He has provided.
  3. Repentance (Istighfar): Seek forgiveness for your sins, as blocks in healing are often cleared through sincere repentance.
  4. Remove Distractions: Turn off phones, televisions, and ensure the room is quiet.

Step 2: The Recitation (Core Verses of Ruqyah)

Cup your hands together in front of your chest (like in Dua) and recite the following verses with focus and contemplation:

1. Surah Al-Fatiha (1 to 7) — Recite 3 or 7 times

The Prophet (PBUH) confirmed that Surah Al-Fatiha is the greatest Ruqyah. Recite it with conviction.

2. Ayat-ul-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255) — Recite 3 times

Provides powerful protection against devils and evil spirits.

“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence...”

3. Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285-286) — Recite 1 time

The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him."

4. The Three Quls (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) — Recite 3 times each

Recite them, blow into your hands, and then rub your hands over your face and entire body (as far as your hands can reach). Repeat this three times.

Step 3: Recite Prophetic Supplications (Duas)

Recite these authentic Duas narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

Dua 1: For Physical & Spiritual Illness

Transliteration: Allahunma Rabban-nas, adhhibil-ba's, ishfi wa Antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama.

Translation: "O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the difficulty. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your cure; a cure that leaves no disease behind." (Sahih al-Bukhari 5743)

Dua 2: The Ruqyah of Angel Jibreel

Transliteration: Bismillahi arqika, min kulli shay'in yu'dhika, min sharri kulli nafsin aw 'ayni hasidin, Allahu yashfika, bismillahi arqika.

Translation: "In the name of Allah I perform Ruqyah on you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye. May Allah heal you. In the name of Allah I perform Ruqyah on you." (Sahih Muslim 2186)

Step 4: Blow over Water or Olive Oil

After completing the recitations:

  1. Blow Lightly: Blow gently (with a tiny amount of dry spit/saliva, representing barakah) into a glass of clean water or a bottle of organic olive oil.
  2. Drink Water: Drink the water throughout the day.
  3. Apply Oil: Rub the olive oil over areas of pain, your chest, joints, or your whole body before sleeping.
  4. Spray Home: You can also put the Ruqyah water in a spray bottle and spray the corners of your house for protection (avoiding bathrooms).

Step 5: Consistency & Daily Adhkar

Spiritual healing is a journey. Repeat this process daily (ideally after Fajr and Asr prayers) for at least 7 to 21 days. Combine it with your obligatory five daily prayers and morning/evening adhkar.

If you experience severe reactions during recitation (such as shaking, vomiting, or overwhelming fear), it is recommended to consult a qualified Raqi for professional guidance. Contact Qari Umair Bin Uzair for a free initial consultation on WhatsApp at +92 322 2014646.
